Could you give us 15 hours a year to help us to support young children and those who educate and care for them?

We are looking for a trustee for our charity and in particular we would welcome knowledge and experience in law (especially, but not exclusively, charity law). You don’t need any experience of being a trustee – we can provide opportunities to learn from others and training to suit your needs.

To express an interest, please contact the Chief Executive Officer, Sacha Powell and / or to apply for the role, please send a covering letter and short CV to: sacha@froebeltrust.org.uk by 5pm on 21 April 2021.

We are a small, friendly charity with a big reach. As a grant-making trust devoted to research and practice development in early childhood education, our grants, bursaries, projects and events help young children and their carers across the UK and the world. We believe in the importance of play, learning through nature, practical hands-on learning and nurturing a child’s connection to their community. Our work is inspired by the man who invented kindergartens: Friedrich Froebel.

Our trustees set a strategic direction for the organisation; support and challenge the executive team to deliver the strategy; and ensure good governance of the charity. Find out more about the way we work.

We currently have 11 trustees from many different walks of life who meet 4 or 5 times a year, usually from 4-6pm on a Thursday, with an ‘away day’ once a year.

Meetings currently take place online but pre-Covid they were held in our offices in Roehampton, London SW15.

Going forward, we expect to use a combination of face-to-face and virtual meetings.

The role is voluntary and unpaid (except for out-of-pocket expenses). Trustees normally serve a 4-year term of office with us, which may be renewed.

Our Chair of Trustees, Mark Neale, would be delighted to arrange an informal conversation with interested applicants or those wishing to find out more about the Trust and the trustee role.
