Froebel Short Courses (for all levels)
We offer a unique, highly respected series of short courses for educators and carers (for all levels of experience/ qualifications) in nursery schools and early years settings.
Developed with educators in mind, Froebel Short Courses cover six themes, which are central to Froebelian approaches to early childhood education and care. The courses are delivered by our team of expert Travelling Tutors, led by Dr Stella Louis.
The cost for delivering these hugely popular courses in schools and early years settings all over the UK is subsidised by the Froebel Trust.
Every year we also offer an online course for individuals who are keen to develop their Froebelian practice. The cost of this course is also subsidised by the Froebel Trust.

Download nowFroebel in Childhood Practice Course (for all levels)
This course is for anyone who is currently working in an early years setting (no prior qualifications required). The course considers how Froebel’s work can provide early years educators with insights into how they can observe, support and extend children’s learning.
The course is offered by The University of Edinburgh - they run courses for local authorities and two open courses each year (one in person and one online).
The course is endorsed but not subsidised by the Froebel Trust. The 2024 course fee is £895. You may qualify for funding and a reduction in course fees from Student Awards Agency Scotland. E: froebel@ed.ac.uk

Froebel Professional Practice Certificate (Level 4) in Early Childhood
This part-time Froebel Trust endorsed course is offered by University of Roehampton, London - with Froebel Trust bursaries to help reduce the course costs.
The course fee for 2022-2023 was £1,150. Those awarded a Froebel Trust bursary had these fees reduced to £600. These bursaries are managed by the University of Roehampton on our behalf. E: froebelcertificates@roehampton.ac.uk
The year long course is open to anyone with experience (two years or equivalent) of work with young children in any setting. For students not living or working in London, tutorials can be arranged via virtual meetings instead.
Froebel Professional Development Certificate (Level 6) in Early Childhood
This part-time froebel Trust endorsed course is offered by University of Roehampton, London - with Froebel Trust bursaries to help reduce the course costs.
The course fee for 2022-2023 was £1,150. Those awarded a Froebel Trust bursary had these fees reduced to £600. Level 6 is open to all those with at least two years experience of work with young children in any setting and prior study, normally at Level 5 or above. E: froebelcertificates@roehampton.ac.uk

Masters (Level 7)
Early Childhood Studies (MA) is offered at the University of Roehampton. This postgraduate programme draws on Froebel’s understanding of the transformative power of young children’s play on their thinking.
This can be completed over one year (full time) or two years (part-time). In 2022, two Froebel Trust bursaries worth £5,250 each (funding towards the cost of course fees) were offered. Education (MSc) : Early Childhood Practice and Froebel Pathway is offered at The University of Edinburgh. This postgraduate programme is for those who want to gain an advanced and critical understanding of Froebelian principles and other contemporary early years pedagogies.
The course can be completed over one year (full time) or over two or three years (part time). The course requires applicants to have at least a UK 2:1 honours degree, or its international equivalent, in a relevant discipline. The Froebel Trust offers bursaries for this course. PhD bursaries (Level 8)
Froebel Trust PhD bursaries support students undertaking research with a Froebelian focus relating to young children’s learning. Our bursaries cover fees (at the UK student rate) and provide a maintenance grant for full-time or part-time study at a university or research institution in the UK.
The Froebel Trust is not offering any PhD bursaries in 2024.
