We’re delighted to announce Froebel Trust Chief Executive Officer, Dr Sacha Powell has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Arts (Education) degree by the University of Roehampton.
Sacha was awarded the honour from the University of Roehampton’s School of Education as an “inspiring educator, researcher and advocate for children.”
The Honorary Doctorate was awarded at the University’s graduation ceremony on Wednesday 28th January 2026. Interim Dean, Professor Philippa Velija presented the honour, noting Sacha as “eminently worthy “of the Degree of Doctor of Arts, Honoris Causa.

The education of teachers has a long tradition at the University of Roehampton and its constituent colleges, including Froebel College where Froebelian principles are at the heart of the ethos, pedagogy and curriculum. The University has an international reputation for its Froebelian research and education.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sacha emphasized the importance and value of the Early Childhood sector and all who work with young children. She acknowledged the support and inspiration of these professionals in her own career and said:
“To receive an honorary doctorate is a distinction I accept with pride and a deep sense of responsibility… I gratefully accept this honorary degree with [the new education graduates receiving their degrees today] in mind.”
